Festival of Peasants’ Struggles: 30 years of struggle – let’s organise the resistance

8 April 2026

On 17 April 1996, 19 peasants from Brazil’s Landless Rural Workers’ Movement were murdered by large landowners for daring to demand land and dignity. In tribute to these victims, 17 April has become the International Day of Peasant Struggles.

30 years on, agribusiness continues to attack farmers here and elsewhere through free trade agreements: unfair competition, human rights violations, deforestation, pesticide exports... We will not let them get away with it – let’s stand together!

The Réseau de Soutien à l’Agriculture Paysanne invites you to a festival of resistance: meetings, demonstrations, film screenings and discussions, and festive moments. Featuring special guests: farmers from Brazil (Landless Workers’ Movement) and the Philippines. Two days to come together, fight and celebrate peasant resistance. Join us!
