Peasants’ rights

In response to the systemic violation of peasants’ rights in Europe, as recognised in the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Peasants and other people working in rural areas (UNDROP), we set up a working group specifically dedicated to this issue.

This working group provides a space for political strategy and exchange on how to implement the UNDROP and raise awareness on peasants’ rights around Europe.

Key objectives

  1. Raise awareness of the UNDROP via the development of training programmes and training material targeting local and national organisations, decision makers and civil society, for example.
  2. Advocate for the implementation of the UNDROP on the European continent and ensure that all EU policies respect the provisions of the declaration.
  3. Participate in the efforts of LVC and its partners for the creation of new special procedures within the UN system to support the implementation of the UNDROP at national level.
