How does digitalisation affect a just food system? In this publication, ECVC makes 25 recommendations to ensure that digitalisation in agriculture does not reinforce corporate power or exacerbate existing inequalities. By implementing these recommendations, digitalisation can advance food sovereignty and security. It will also help to address environmental and social crises while prioritising the needs of small-scale food producers.
Digitalisation is everywhere in our daily lives, including agriculture. Recognising this, the European Coordination Via Campesina (ECVC) has created this position paper on digitalisation and some futurist agricultural technologies. This paper reflects the political stance of ECVC and includes real stories and examples from the ground.
ECVC hopes that this thorough look at digitalisation will guide its members in their discussions and internal positions, while also offering policy-makers, institutions, and other civil society organisations a clear perspective on the views and concerns of peasant farmers.
