Throughout June, various ECVC members have been actively involved in the ongoing negotiations on the Voluntary Guidelines on Gender Equality and Women’s and Girls’ Empowerment at the CFS, through the Civil Society and Indigenous Peoples’ Mechanism (CSIPM, formerly CSM). Yesterday, the CSIPM released a statement and carried out a public action to call for the recognition of all diversities in the Voluntary Guidelines. In this context, ECVC expresses support and solidarity with the global gender and sexual diverse community and demands an intersectional approach to agricultural policy that guarantees equal rights for all small and medium-scale farmers, especially those of the LGBTQI+ community.
