ECVC is a partner in the “VACDIVA” project, which started in October 2019 and will last 4 years; the project is funded by the European Union, Horizon 2020 programme.
The main objective of VACDIVA is to solve the problem of African Swine Fever (ASF), in Europe and in the affected countries, through the development of :
1 – three safe and effective vaccines for domestic pigs and wild boar;
2 – the accompanying DIVA tests;
3- effective tools for control and eradication strategies in Europe.
The role of ECVC in this project is the communication and dissemination of results and ECVC will organise two workshops to communicate the results of the project to both the livestock sector and the hunting community.
The first workshop will be organised by COAG on the 18th of September 2020, in Spain; the second will take place in the third year of the project and it will be organised by ECVC. COAG participates in VACDIVA as a partner of ECVC, bringing its expertise in the eradication of this disease. Jaume Bernis, COAG’s main expert and pig farmer, is participating in this project.
We welcome contributions from ECVC members in the pig sector from other countries. Members can contribute with ideas, experiences and data on African Swine Fever (ASF) as well as the benefits already provided by the VACDIVA project against a disease that is causing serious damage in the countries where it is found.
Information about this project will follow and it will only be available in English, like the main website of the project.
