Climate change: peasant ways

With, as speakers, the following MEPs : Lidia Senra (GUE/NGL), José Bové (The Greens) and Eric Andrieu (S&D), this conference aims to highlight the ECVC work in food and agriculture, in the perspective of the adaptation to the Climate Change, and strengthen the societal and institutional debate about this question, from the field concerns. In specific, this initiative is meant to launch a reflection with the MEPs in order to contribute to the European debate on agriculture and climate change, in perspective of the COP 21, in Paris, in December 2015. “Climate change: peasant ways” Conference Venue: Mundo B Rue d'Edimbourg 26 Edimburgstraat Bruxelles 1050 Brussel 4th of March, 9:30 to 12:30 MEPs Speakers : Lidia Senra (GUE/NGL), José Bové (The Greens) and Eric Andrieu (S&D) Organised by: European Coordination Via Campesina The aim of the conference is to highlight the ECVC work in food and agriculture, in the perspective of the adaptation to the Climate Change, and strengthen the societal and institutional debate about this question, from the field concerns. In specific, this initiative is meant to launch a reflection with the MEPs in order to contribute to the European debate on agriculture and climate change in perspective of the COP 21, in Paris, in December 2015. The impact of the climate change in agriculture and the life of all the populations is getting stronger and stronger, and the States can hardly find solutions because, the necessity of a change, is always facing economical and short term concerns. In this context, the European peasants farmers, united in the “Via Campesina” movement, wish to present their contribution to global solutions. The Conference will present 4 farming case studies on measures proved to be effective in the climate change mitigation. The issues of land, seeds, soil management, supply chains and distribution will be addressed.
